Sr. Agnes Clare Vows

Sister Agnes Clare Professes First Vows
Sister Mary Agnes Clare Navarra, OSF, professed her first vows in the Our Lady of Peace Retreat House Chapel on July 24, 2010. It was a beautiful Mass with Bishop Steiner and several other Priests con-celebrating. The Legion of Mary group generously provided a fabulous luncheon following the Mass.
Sr. Agnes Clare was born, raised, and educated in the Philippines. During her childhood she witnessed the strong faith of her family, which influenced her at an early age into the direction of a religious life. Later she moved to Canada to work and eventually became a Canadian citizen. She met the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows through the Legion of Mary. Sister Mary Cecilia who was assigned to the community’s mission there, strongly believed that she had a calling to religious life.
In December 2006, Sr. Agnes Clare entered the Community at Our Lady of Peace Retreat and Convent. On February 11, 2008, she became a Novice, receiving her habit and white veil.
Sister Agnes Clare shares her thoughts on why she is a Franciscan: “I love the Franciscan Missionary Sisters, because their Spirituality is centered in Christ. I was attracted by the fact that daily they have Mass, meditation, scripture and spiritual reading, pray the Liturgy of the Hours and the rosary. The best of all is their daily Holy Hour with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.” Sister will soon be moving to her first mission assignment at St. Clare’s Retreat House in Soquel, California.
